As the #americanhotrod show started production, my dad had a few corporate sponsors sign up to have banners placed in the shop during filming. One of them was our very good wheel customer @discount_tire . We sold a ton of wheels through Discount Tire back in the day. Solid group of guys who really appreciated and supported our brand.

This was the last trip I took with my dad before he passed. It was also my first time on the salt. It was a great time and an overall awesome experience. This place is like no other. For those who watched the #americanhotrod episode, you know how the racing portion turned out. My dad had planned to go back the following year with a special project that I will post about later.

We get a decent amount of requests to build some of the older designs from the 90s. With the comeback of 90s trucks and a wider range of tire selections, the options to upfit your vehicle are plenty. This recent project is a rebuild of the old Phoenix wheel from 1993. @shift_speed_shop and @azproperformance are freshening up a Tahoe that featured an exposed lug version of these wheels. Upsizing to an 18×9 with the soft lip from the original 16″ stepped lip version.

Just some pics from the coolest road trip ever. It was me and my dad, along with Bob Bauder and Gray Baskerville driving Chezoom to @goodguysrodandcustom Indy. Circa 1991/92. There are so many stories and memories along that trip. I miss all three of those guys. I will never forget this one. Being part of my Dad’s adventures and proving to the hot rodding world that Boyd Coddington produced not only the most cutting-edge cars but drivers as well.

Not only was Boyd Coddington responsible for creating the world’s first made to order custom wheel business, but one of his most iconic designs was also a first. The Tri Fan was the world’s first 3 spoke true directional wheel. This one of a kind wheel was featured on the @mitsubishimotors powered Aluma Coupe and spawned several variations like the Ninja featured on the iconic 1957 custom Chezoom. Attached are some other rare variations of the Tri Fan.
