Will the REAL Junk Yard Dog please stand up!!

Let’s set the record straight. The Junk Yard Dog that Hot Rods by Boyd produces is the original. If your Junk Yard Dog is 1pc cast and it’s stamped made in China it’s not the real deal. Chris Coddington and Hot Rods by Boyd produce the original JYD designed by the legendary Boyd Coddington. Like all other Hot Rods by Boyd wheels the cast JYD is a custom built 2pc wheel offered in diameters 17, 18 and 20″ in a range of bolt patterns and widths. Every Junk Yard Dog is built to order and made to your backspace specifications.  Custom finishes like the Charcoal Ceramic coated center and polished lip you see below are our specialty. 20×19 Junk Yard Dogs

Here is an update on those massive 20×19 rims we built. They ended up getting some Junk Yard Dog centers in them. These wheels are going on the back of Tim Cotterill’s current project Rocket III which is planned for completion Summer 2013. If it’s going to anything like Rocket II then it’s going to be one hell of a machine. These 20×19’s have a 6.5″ backspace. We have included a pic next to a 17×10 rim to show you the size difference. Below are pics of Tim’s last project Rocket II that featured 20×15 JYD’s on it. Tim, aka Frogman, is a great guy with a great story and tons of artistic talent. For more information on Tim you can check out Frogmancollection.com. For more information on these wheels call 866-612-2693 or email.

20×19 rims

What you have here is probably the widest rims we have built. 20×19. These are going on a wild trike that’s being built. I think we might have reached our limit on how wide we can go. For reference Stella is 38″ tall.

Red Stripe Blacked Out JYDs

Our good customer Pete sent us these pics of his Camaro with some blacked out JYDs. These 18″ Junk Yard Dogs were treated with an all satin black paint with a red stripe added by Pete. Good job and great looking ride.

24″ Junk Yard Dogs

When my dad machined the first set of Junk Yard Dogs to go on the Chevy that named these wheels building anything bigger than an 18 or 20″ set of these for a car wouldn’t have been on his radar. These Coddington Collection 24×12 full billet JYD’s are going on a full custom.

Rambler………. Brockmeyer Style

Eric Brockmeyer’s Rambler American sedan was started towards the end of 2004 and finished in July of 2011. Those 7 years were well worth the wait because Eric’s little project came out exactly as he planned and he has some awards to show for it. I remember talking to Eric back in 2005 about doing up some wheels for the Rambler. We were just about to take the Junk Yard Dog into a cast version and he wanted to have one of the first sets built. Eric knew right from the beginning what he wanted to accomplish and once he put pencil to paper he decided to take it over to Link’s Rod Shop in Heath, OH to start the build. Along the way H and H Autobody did the paint and bodywork and Weber’s Custom Interiors finished the nice black leather interior. The Rambler sports a 55 354 Hemi dual quad. A set of 20×10 and 18×7  custom painted Junk Yard Dogs puts the power to the pavement. Debuted at Good Guys Columbus last summer and won Goodguys Columbus- builders choice and Street Rodder top 100. Other awards include NSRA nats Louisville- Builders Choice, Goodguys Indy- Snap-On Innovator award and NSRA Nats Tampa- builders choice.
