We have the Solution for the Solution

We have the Solution for your polishing woes. Our ceramic clearcoat is a great option to lock in that nice polished or brushed finish. The ceramic clearcoat option comes in gloss and low gloss. For fully polished surfaces and some brushed we recommend the high gloss. For fully brushed wheels the low gloss clear softens up the finish and makes it maintenance free. Boydster Project Update

We have been working on a Boydster I project with Vinny’s Designs in Colorado. The Boydster I is running original Boyd Coddington Pro Ride chassis with all machined billet components. Are plan for the Boydster is to make it a tribute to the Boyd cars of the 80’s. We brushed and sprayed all the billet parts with Cerakote low gloss clear. We went with a custom mix red PPG paint. The chassis will be outfitted with Aldan Coilovers AS-655 for the Rear and  AS-656 for the front which will be brushed and cleared as well. The Boydster will be running a 383 stroker motor with machined and brushed valve covers and air cleaner. The wheels shown are just rollers. We wil be running a couple different sets of wheels on the Boydster. Look for more pics in the coming weeks as we progress.

Hot Rodders are Born. Legends Are Made.

‪#‎TBT‬ Came across this clipping from the Los Angeles Times about my dad from 2000. This was at a time when my dad was trying to rebuild the business and his career. I remember this like it was yesterday. I had taken some time off from the hot rod industry and was just about to come back to work for my dad. My dad was a hard worker who never let anyone tell him he couldn’t do something and fought for his vision every step of the way. In the 90’s my dad was everyone’s hero and worked hard to build the hot rodding industry. When it all came crashing down in 97 a lot of people bailed on him and called him a zero. True friends stood next to him and worked with him to build the business and build back his career. I am proud to say I was right there and was proud to watch my dad fight to come back. I learned to appreciate all the family, friends, co-workers, employees, vendors, and customers that helped make these things happen. I learned a lot from my dad and I miss him everyday.
Work hard and make things happen people. You only have one life. Live it.

The SOB shown in Bronze

Sid Teran’s work really set a nice backdrop for our SOB photoshoot. The detail on these boards is amazing. This SOB is shown in 18″ with our ceramic bronze color. When the light hits this bronze it just pops and really shows the detail that sets this cast wheel apart from the others.

Hot Rods by Boyd Circa 1982

I might have only been 8 years old at the time but I remember this scene very well. This was behind the shop on Orange Ave which was located behind my parents house in Buena Park, CA. This covered car port would later become enclosed and become part storage and part my dad’s office. This was during an era when most other hot rodders and my dad’s friends all had shops at their houses. For me having a Bridgeport mill and welders in your garage was normal. How things have changed but oh how they have stayed the same in some way. A passion for cars and a focus on building cool stuff is still the main focus. I miss those days as a kid running around the shop(backyard), riding my bike up and down the driveway making sure to stay clear of the finished cars that were coming and going. Hot Rods by Boyd would later move onto Monroe St in Stanton, CA where some of the greats like Cadzilla, Chezoom, and Aluma Coupe among others were built.
