‪#‎TBT‬ Came across this clipping from the Los Angeles Times about my dad from 2000. This was at a time when my dad was trying to rebuild the business and his career. I remember this like it was yesterday. I had taken some time off from the hot rod industry and was just about to come back to work for my dad. My dad was a hard worker who never let anyone tell him he couldn’t do something and fought for his vision every step of the way. In the 90’s my dad was everyone’s hero and worked hard to build the hot rodding industry. When it all came crashing down in 97 a lot of people bailed on him and called him a zero. True friends stood next to him and worked with him to build the business and build back his career. I am proud to say I was right there and was proud to watch my dad fight to come back. I learned to appreciate all the family, friends, co-workers, employees, vendors, and customers that helped make these things happen. I learned a lot from my dad and I miss him everyday.
Work hard and make things happen people. You only have one life. Live it.

Flashback – Chezoom Road Trip 1992
I was going through some old pictures and came across some from a road trip I took with my dad in Chezoom. There was a period of time my dad was on a mission to call out some haters that called some of his cars ‘trailer queens’ so he set out to prove them wrong. My dad invited me to join him on a cross country trip in Chezoom to drive from California to Goodguys Indy. Long time friend Bob Bauder and Hot Rod Magazine mad man Gray Baskerville followed us in a bitchin flamed dually pulling a trailer. We made it the whole way with only minor difficulties. Along the way we had a series of stops planned at various Super Shops and other tire shops for planned events. Gray Baskerville was one of a kind and he was there to document the whole trip for Hot Rod Magazine. Bob and Gray taught me the finer parts of road trips like stocking up on a few buckets of KFC chicken and eating it the whole week on the road. Once we got to Indy I was stoked when my dad let me drive Chezoom around the Indy 500 track. I will never forget pulling up to these gas stations across the USA and having people just trip out on the car. The road trip I will never forget. Seeing America in Chezoom with my dad.

Real Junk Yard Dogs – Not overseas imitations
Back in 2003 my dad was working on a 1956 Chevy that was going to be aired on American Hot Rod. Like most builds created at the shop a custom one-off set of wheels was machined to put the finishing touches on the car. The result was a modernized version of a classic T70 5 spoke wheel. As soon as those wheels were put on the Junk Yard Dog we knew we had another winner of a design on our hands. It wasn’t long before we decided to make it in a high quality billet and cast centered version in 17-20″ to offer for sale to the public. At Hot Rods by Boyd we continue to manufacture the same exact wheel. While there are other chinese wheels out there that try to imitate and replicate this classic do not be fooled. HRBB is the source for the original version of this design. Just like every other wheel HRBB produces every JYD is made to order. We offer a range of widths, offsets and finishes to give you the perfect look and fit for your car. Click here for prices and sizing infornation.
